Early this morning, an accident involving two 18 wheelers forced the closure of westbound lanes on the Katy Freeway near I-45. According to reports, the accident, which resulted in a fuel spill and lost load, occurred just before 5 am on I-10 near Houston Ave. After five hours of cleaning up spilled fuel and hydraulic fluid, those westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway shut down by the accident were finally reopened around 10 am. Right now, there is no official word on what caused the crash, though it has been reported that the freeway was very slick at the time of the collision. It also has not been announced if either driver or anyone else was injured as a result of the accident this morning. However, when you consider the force of a collision between two 18 wheelers, the odds are pretty high that at least one if not both of the drivers suffered injuries.
